Only three tin companies meet export requirement

The three companies securing approval as approved exporters are PT Timah, Bellitin Makmur Lestari and PT Yinchenindo Mining Industri, said Director General of Foreign Trade Diah Maulida Jakarta on Monday.
They fulfilled the stipulated requirements, such as having exploitation mining-concession (KP) or holding processing and purification KP in cooperation with holders of exploitation KP.
The government has tightened rules on the export of tin by issuing the Regulation of the Minister of Finance No. 04/M-DAG/2007 on Jan. 22 to crack down illegal miners in the province of Bangka Belitung, the main producer of the commodity.
The regulation also requires companies for enclosing royalty payment form upon exporting the commodity and passing verification by surveyors authorized by the government.
Director of industrial product and mineral export at the Ministry of Trade Aang Kanaan Adikusumah disclosed that ten companies had applied for license to export tin but only seven of them enclosed mining business licenses issued by regional governments. (*)
