OPEC decides to name Kuwaiti official chairman of the organization: Report

The ministerial conference of OPEC decided on Wednesday to appoint Kuwaiti Energy Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahd Al-Sabah chairman of the organization as of the start of next year, Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.
Sheikh Ahmad, whose term will last for a year, is to succeed Indonesian Oil Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
The decision was taken during meetings of the OPEC ministers that concluded here today. The conferees also decided to appoint the Nigeria Oil Minister as the deputy chairman.
Sheikh Ahmad is also a member of monitoring council of the market that comprises the oil ministers of Iran, Nigeria and the secretary general of OPEC. (*)
