UK-based firm Ophir Energy Plc plans to carry out 3D seismic survey this month in two blocks including West Papua IV, offshore Papua; and Aru, offshore Maluku.
Head of Public Relations at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, Taslim Z. Yunus told petromindo.com that the survey vessel is currently undergoing inspection process in Singapore, and will immediately be dispatched to Indonesia once completed.
The survey program is expected to begin in the middle of August, which will take about 30 days for each block.
?We have to appreciate Ophir for carrying out 3D seismic in exploration blocks,? Taslim said.
Ophir has a 49.9 percent operating interest in the West Papua IV Block and a 60 percent operating interest in the Aru Block covering a gross area of 5,701 km2.
The West Papua IV and Aru Blocks were acquired from Niko Resources Limited in 2015.
