Ophir seeks higher price of gas from Kerendan field

UK company Ophir Energy met with Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar on Wednesday discussing the company's request for an upward revision of the price of gas from the Kerendan field in Bangkanai PSC, Central Kalimantan, to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, according to source.
PLN Head of Gas and Fuel Oil Division, Chairani Rachmatullah told Petromindo.com on Thursday that Ophir wanted to raise the gas price to US$6.7 per bbtud from $4.7 per bbtud as set under the contract gas sales contract signed in 2012. But she said that PLN has insisted for the price to be maintained at $4.7 per bbtud.
President Director of Ophir Energy Indonesia Anggoro Kasyanto confirmed the meeting with Arcandra, which among other things discussed the Kerendan gas price, but declined to provide details. He only said that the Kerendan gas has been only allocated, at a volume of 20 bbtud, to PLN's PLTMG Bangkanai gas engine power plant in North Barito.
The Kerendan gas field started gas delivery to the PLTMG Bangkanai las year. Ophir holds 70 percent interest in Bangkanai PSC as operator, while the remainder 30 percent is held by PT Saka Energy.
