Origin, partners plan to drill 1st N. Sumatra geothermal well in ?12

Australia-listed energy firm Origin Energy reported on Tuesday that it and partners planned to drill first exploration well at Sorik Marapi geothermal concession in North Sumatra in early 2012.

The company said that preparations are continuing and surface geophysical studies have been completed.

The concession is estimated to support 200-300MW of geothermal power.

Origin holds effective 47.5 percent ownership in the project with the balance divided between partners PT Supraco Indonesia and India?s Tata Power. (alex)
