US firm Ormat Technologies Inc. announced Wednesday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Ormat Power Inc., received during March & April 2005 three orders totaling approximately US$2.8 million for ORMAT(R) Energy Converters (OEC) to be be used to power essential services such as communication, navigational aids and data transmission, for field developments on new unmanned offshore platforms to be installed in the Kalimantan Sea, Indonesia.

Delivery of the OECs is expected during the second half of 2005.

The ORMAT(R) Energy Converter for remote power supply is a fully integrated, tested and certified power system developed for remote unattended applications. A self-contained power package, it will supply 200 to 4,000 watts of filtered DC power (24, 48 or 125 VDC) on a continuous 24 hour-per-day basis for periods in excess of 25 years with virtually no maintenance or repairs. One of its most original features is that it can be run with different fuels such as LPG, natural gas from wells or pipelines, kerosene or diesel fuel. Unlike other generators, OECs can operate with natural gas with high NCG content and low LHV. (alex)
