Outotec seeks to supply technology for Freeport?s smelter

Finnish Outotec Pty Ltd through its Indonesian subsidiary PT Outotec Technology Solutions is currently in intensive talks with PT Freeport Indonesia to become the technology provider for the latter?s planned copper cathode smelter in Gresik, East Java.
Business Indonesia quoted Thursday Outotec Technology Solutions Business Development Director, Irma Kurniawati as saying that Freeport has expressed interest in her company?s double flash smelter technology.
She added that the technology, which has been applied in several countries such as China, India, US and in Europe, is suitable to be applied at Freeport?s planned smelter because it would have an installed capacity of 1.6 million tons. (*)
