Paiton construction 40 percent completed

PT Paiton Energy, a unit of UK power plant International Power plc that runs Paiton power plant in East Java said that construction of the Paiton 3 Expansion Project has been 40 percent completed.

Deputy President Director Low Kian Min told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the 1 x 815MW supercritical coal-fired power plant is on schedule to start operations in 2012.

Low said the Company has appointed PT.Adaro Indonesia and PT. Kideco Jaya Agung to supply 3 million tonnes of coal per annum under long-term contract for the power plant with price negotiated annually.

Paiton Energy is currently running Paiton 7 and 8 units with combined capacity of 1,230MW. (denny)
