Independent Power Producer (IPP) PT Paiton Energy will expand its capacity by building a new power plant with a capacity of 2x1000 MW.

Currently Paiton Energy operates a 2000 MW power plant in East Java. Syakib Bafagih, Senior Vice President Finance, PT Paiton Energy told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the location of the new power plant will be either in West Java or Banten Province.

"We have conducted many studies and are seeking a strategic location in West Java and Banten," he said adding that the power plant project will be named Jawa Lima with a total investment of about US$3 billion.

"We will propose the plan to PLN by the end of this half year," he said, referring to state owned electricity firm PT PLN.
