The Paiton VII steam power plant has yet to resume its operation because the power plant’s technicians have difficulties to detect the technical problem in the plant’s main generator, Kompas reported on Wednesday.

PLN’s general manager for power transmission and traffic control, Muljo Adji said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the power plant’s operator was still waiting for the result of the investigation made by the generator manufacturer.

“As the consequence, the Paition VII with a capacity of 615 MW is still unable to provide power supply to the Java and Bali transmission network,” he said. He said unlike Paiton VII, that the third unit of the Suralaya power plant which had also suffered technical problem had continued its normal operation on Monday.

Muljo said that PLN had maximalized the operation of all power plants in Java including the Muara Tawar and Muara Karang power plants in a bid to cope with the shortage of the power supply resulting from the halt in the operation of Paiton VII power plant. (*)
