Paiton short-lists coal suppliers

PT.Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a unit of state electricity firm PLN, said it had short-listed four suppliers to supply coal for its Paiton 800-MW power plant in East Java.

Assistant Manager Puspo Hadi declined to reveal the bidders? names but said PJB might pick more than one suppliers. He also said PJB might increase contracted volume from the planned 720,000 tonnes to up to 1.5 million tonnes.

Hadi said next year Paiton would require 3 million tonnes of coal, some 2MTPA of which would be supplied by PT.Adaro Indonesia through long-term contract.

PJB opened 720,000 tonnes coal supply tender for January-December 2008 delivery on November 6. (denny)
