PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a unit state of electricity firm PLN said on Tuesday that it would directly appoint coal supplier(s) for its Paiton power plant in East Java as the two tenders the company held failed to attract sufficient bidders.
?The tender had been opened twice but only managed to get two bidders,? PJB?s procurement officer Bambang Iswanto told Petromindo.Com.
Under the PLN regulation, the a coal tender would require at least three bidders to be deemed valid.
The appointed supplier(s) will deliver 4,900-5,100 Kcal/kg AR coal for Paiton in 2008-2009 with volume of between 40,000-90,000 tonnes per month.
The supplier(s) would announced next week, he said without giving names.
Meanwhile, Iswanto also said that PJB?s recent tender to seek coal supplier for 2009-2014 delivery only attracted one bidder. He said PJB will announce second tender this week, he said. (denny)
