An 18 MW hydro power plant (PLTA) project owned by independent power producer PT Energy Sakti Sentosa in Pakkat, Humbang Hasundutan, North Sumatra Province, is expected to start operation in November of this year.

?Construction will be completed soon. In about two months, it will start operation,? said President Director of Energy Sakti, Rusmin Cahyadi to Petromindo.com on Friday following signing of power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

Under the PPA, the company will sell electricity from the power plant to PLN at a tariff of 8.6 US cents per kWh.

Rusmin said that his company will spend around US$52 million for the PLTA project. The company completed in 2013 financial close for the project, which is an expansion of the existing 10 MW PLTA at the same location which started operation in 2016.

Aside from PLTA Pakkat, Energy Sakti through subsidiary is also currently developing a 100 MW PLTA project in Sulawesi, of which the construction progress has reached 80 percent, Rusmin said.
