PAL receives order from Husky-CNOOC

State owned shipbuilder PT PAL Indonesia said on Wednesday it had received an order from Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) to build a wellhead platform for the Madura BD field in the Madura Strait PSC offshore East Java

The firm recently held a First Steel Cutting ceremony for the project at its General Engineering Division office.

The 55 meter high Madura BD platform, the eighth offshore platform to be built by the firm, will installed in the Madura Strait and produce 110 mmscfd of gas to be delivered through a 16-inch pipeline over a length of 52 km to meet the needs of the Grati power plant in Pasuruan, East Java owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

The project will take 30 months to complete starting in July this year, including 18 months for the making of top side and jacket of the platform. It teams up with Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC) and PT Supasi Widya Engineering in working on the project with engineering and procurement process to be supervised by Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia.

PAL said it has proved its capability to build facilities to support the national oil and gas industry. The facilities that have been built by the firm include the Banuwati platform ordered by CNOOC; the WHP A wellhead platform and subsea pipeline for the Ujung Pangkah project owned by Amerada Hess; the fabrication of Zelda wellhead platform for CNOOC.
