PT Pama Persada Nusantara, Indonesia?s largest mining contractor has just finished feasibility study of its planned mine mouth power plant, which is scheduled to be built starting 2015. ?We have completed feasibility study (FS) of the plant and currently we are about to finish the final design,? said Frans Kesuma, Pama President Director to Petromindo in an interview on May 13, 2014.

The plant will have total capacity of 30 MW (2X15 MW), and will be located in Central Kalimantan, inside the coal mine of its subsidiary PT Tuah Turangga Agung. Pama is a subsidiary of IDX-listed heavy equipment firm PT United Tractors Tbk.

?However we will use only half from total capacity, while the rest we will sell it to PLN,? added Frans. The plant will cost about US$70-80 million and will consume coal with calorific value on the range of 5000-5500 Kcal/Kg (GAR), Frans explained.

By law, excess power selling to PLN is allowed but there are certain requirements that must be fulfilled first.
