Indonesia?s top coalmining contractor PT. Pamapersada Nusantara booked Rp. 3.08 trillion (US$ = Rp8,884) in unaudited revenue last year, slightly down from 3.17 in the previous year, according to a statement released by PT United Tractor (UT) on Friday.

In 2002, UT said, Pamapersada had produced 28.7 million tons of coal and had moved 138.3 million cubic meters of overburden. In the previous year, production reached 24.7 million tons, while oververburden removed amounted to 119.5 million cubic meters.

UT, fully owner of Pamapersada, is a major supplier of heavy equipment and prvoides related services in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Pamapersada is a mining contractor for PT Adaro Indonesia, PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Indominco Mandiri, and PT Multi Harapan Utama.

UT said Pamapersada's contracts with state owned coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam for Sawah Lunto project (West Sumatra), and PT BHP Kendilo Coal Indonesia for Petangis project (East Kalimantan) had ended. ?The contracts ended due to depleting coal reserves in the areas," said UT.

As previously reported, Pamapersada obtained a three-year contract to carry out coal hauling and overburden removal work for PT Kideco Jaya Agung?s mine site in Pasir regency, East Kalimantan. The project will be started in April this year. (robert)
