The Pamekasan administration in Madura has asked experts from oil and gas firm Exspan to study the oil and gas reserves potential in a village in the Pamekasan regency.

The Suara Karya daily reported that the move was made after a local villager named Limin dug a 20-meter well in the Gagul Village, Tianakan sub district, but instead of producing water, the hole produces a flammable substance.

The paper said that the hole now produced a 10-meter high flame and had surprised the whole village and the regency.

Pamekasan Regent Dwiatmo Hadiyanto then contacted Exspan, which was making oil exploration activity in the Bungbaruh Village, Kadu sub district, also in the Pamekasan regency, to study the oil and gas potential in the area.

Dwiatmo said that Espan agreed to conduct the study. (*)
