Australian mining firm Pan Asia Corporation reported hat it has completed feasibility study (FS) at the Phase 3 drilling program in its TCM coal project in South Kalimantan, adding 11 boreholes and advancing 4,250 metres since the end of the September quarter.

The Phase 3 drilling program which commenced in early June 2011 consisted of 30 boreholes and advanced 8,680 metres. The program was designed by Kopex and Pan Asia to enable completion of the FS. All geotechnical, hydrological, geophysics, coal quality analysis, methane gas testing and spontaneous combustion sampling required for the FS has been completed, with results still pending, the company has said.

After completing 18 boreholes of the 3rd drilling phase (a total of 35 boreholes drilled to that date), the JORC Resource was upgraded from 53 million tons to 114.6 million tons, representing a significant increase of 115% in JORC Resources. The company newly identified 35.6 million tons in the measured category.

The coal quality is weighted average 6,566 calorific value (ADB) (kcal/kg), 4.33% inherent moisture (ADB), 13.52% Ash (ADB) and 1.52% Sulphur (ADB). The coal quality model will be further updated when all the coal quality results are in for the recently completed drill programme.

The combined phase 1, 2 and 3 programmes bring the drilling to date on the TCM concession to 50 boreholes, with a total 14,274 metres being drilled, it said.
