The Panaran power plant, one of the power plants operated by state-owned electricity firm PT PLN in Batam, finally gets a gas supply with a capacity of 12.5 million million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) from state owned gas firm PGN after a month of delay, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

Arsyad Rangkuti, the general manager of PGN's branch for northern Sumatera, said in Medan on Wednesday that the Panaran power plant would receive a gas supply of 12.5 million MMSCFD for 15 years.

The supply of gas to the Panaran plant was initially scheduled to go on stream on September but it was delayed due to technical problem.

He said that PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper and Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper were also scheduled to get gas supply from PGN, each with a capacity of 12.5 million MMSCFD, within the next six months. (*)
