Pandawa Prima to drill first well in Wain block

Oil and gas company PT Pandawa Prima Lestari (PPL) said it will drill its first exploration well within Wain Block in onshore East Kalimantan next year.

It expects to spud the well, called Karamba Updip-1, in January 2012.

The company said it is currently conducting tender for the procurement of rig (750 HP or 1000 HP land drilling rig) as well as integrated project management drilling services with length of contract of three months, starting January 2012.

Wain Block covers 3 regencies in East Kalimantan, namely Balikpapan, Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kertanegara. The total coverage area of the block is 1,149.30 square kilometers.

Pandawa Prima website shows that the company was established in 2005 by the founders of PT Bina Wahana Petrindo (BWP). BWP, now a sister company of Pandawa Prima, was established in 1993.

In 2008, Bina Wahana was sold to Samudera Energy, a member of Northstar Pacific Group.(bernard)
