U.K.-based independent oil and gas company Dana Petroleum plc said Tuesday the co-venturers of the Pangkah production sharing contract (PSC) offshore East Java had commenced the appraisal drilling campaign using the jack-up drilling rig ?Ocean Sovereign?.
?Two wells will be drilled to test for the presence of a western extension of the Ujung Pangkah gas field,? the company said in a statement.
According to Dana, each well is expected to take around one month to complete, excluding any well testing operations.
?The wells are expected to add substantial new gas reserves to the current ?core area? reserves of 478 billion cubic feet,? Dana added.
The coventurers in the Pangkah PSC are Dana (12 percent), operator Amerada Hess (66 percent) and ConocoPhillips (22 percent). (Robert)
