The Pangkalan Susu field in North Sumatra Province saw higher oil production of 924 bpd in the first nine-month period of this year, compared to 433 bpd in the corresponding period of last year.

Field Manager of Pertamina EP Asset I Pangkalan Susu Field, Sumadi Paryoto said on Tuesday that gas output during the January-September period of this year also increased to 8.67 mmscfd from 7.30 mmscfd in the same period of last year.

He explained the higher production was attributed to the operation of the Langsa Structure with oil production of 831 bpd since June 2017; reactivation of suspended wells with upgrading surface facilities contributing output of 137 bopd; reactivation of gas producing shallow zones at the Pulau Panjang Structure of 0.93 mmscfd (average January-October 2017); and EOR project at the Gebang Structure with resulting output of 232 bopd (average January-October). In addition, higher output came from Paluh Tabuh Timur Structure from 57 bopd to 66 bopd through well reactivation. ?There was no drilling of new wells,? he said.

Sumadi said that in the last quarter of this year, Pangkalan Susu Field will continue to reactivate wells at other structures including Bengala, Wampu, as well as optimization of existing wells at the Gebang Structure.

?From these efforts, production from the Benggal Structure is expected at 4.5 mmscfd of gas and condensate of 123 bcpd, while at the Wampu Structure it is expected to have additional gas output of 2 mmscfd and condensate of 100 bcpd,? he said.

The Pangkalan Susu field working area is located in Langkat Regency and Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, with total acreage of 14,211.74 sq km.
