Pangkalan Susu power plant needs 1,879,000 tons of coal a year

Pangkalan Susu coal-fired power plant in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, which has a capacity of 4 x 220 MW needs 1,879,000 tons of coal a year as fuel.
"The coal suppliers are PT Hanson Energy, PT Energi Batubara Lestari and PT Batara Batari Sinergy Nusantara with Letter of Intent status," Helmi Najamuddin, Division Head of coal affairs at PLN, told Petromindo.com on Wednesday.
Guandong Power Engineering Corporation is building the plant's unit 1 and unit 2 which are scheduled to start operation in 2014, while unit 3 and unit 4 are scheduled to operate in 2016. The power generated will be fed into the North Sumatra power grid.
