A 150 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation with transformer capacity of 2x60 MVA in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta, started operation on Friday, increasing power supply reliability in Jakarta, state-owned electricity company PT PLN said in a statement Sunday.
The operation of GIS comes after PLN recently operated three substations including in Tangerang (Banten), Bintaro (South Jakarta), and Balaraja to strengthen the reliability of the Java-Bali power system.
PLN Senior Manager for Public Relations Agung Murdifi said in the statement that this year the company aims to complete the construction of 53 electricity installations among others 150 kV and 500 kV substations. Substations in Jakarta currently have combined capacity of 7,375 MW.
