Panutan cannot accept the extension of fuel distribution suspension from Pertamina

PT Panutan Selaras, producer and distributor of premix fuel, has urged state oil and gas firm Pertamina to end the suspension Pertamina has imposed on Panutan in the premix production and distribution.

Panutan president Anton Poniman said that the recent decision by Pertamina to extend the suspension with no time limit would only hurt Panutan's operation, and eventually would force Panutan to rationalize its personnel, as there were no works to do.

"Actually we want to send home our employees this September, but we still hope that Pertamina would cancel the suspension," Anton said.

He noted that Pertamina's first three-month suspension against Panutan should have ended on August 24, 2000, but Pertamina extended for unlimited period pending an appeal court decision over the case between Panutan and Pertamina.

Panutan sued Pertamina for the three-month suspension and won its case in the district court level, but Pertamina appealed the decision, and then decided to prolong the suspension until an unspecified period pending the appeal court decision.

"The reasoning for the extension of the suspension is not logical. Therefore, we hope that Pertamina's board of directors will allow us to again distribute premix," Anton pleaded. (*)
