The Papua province is eying a stake in the giant gold mining company PT Freeport Indonesia, according to Governor Jaap Solossa.
Jaap said Tuesday that the Papua administration was still making the necessary budget calculation to decide how much stake the province could purchase.
"We have plans to have a stake in Freeport, but we have to pay for it. So we need to check our budget first," he said prior to a meeting with Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
He said that he would discuss the plans with the provincial House of Representatives soon. (Godang)
