Papua administration welcome Arco BP Amoco gas project

The Papua administration welcomes the plans by oil and gas giant Arco BP Amoco to develop a natural gas project in the province, according to vice governor JRG Djopari.

But Djopari was quoted as saying by the local Cenderawasih Post daily that the oil and gas giant must also contribute to the development of the local economy.

He pointed out that there must be room for the local people to participate in the project including by becoming suppliers of the various needs of the project.

He added that the company must be informed the local people what they need and also provide training for them to be able to meet the quality of products the company wanted. (*)
