The Paramount diamond drilling program, commenced in late 2010 and completed nine holes for a total of 2,154 metres. Maximum depth of hole was 304 metres. Drilling was designed to intercept the two main vein systems in the licence area, the Cisoka and Cisampai veins, of which sections are being mined by artisanal miners at shallow depth. Both veins are recognised and developed over 600-800 metres of strike and the drilling tested their potential at between 150 to 200 metre collar spacing along their strike to depths between 100 to 150 metres depth.
The program was designed to determine the vein width, character, precious metal grade distribution and the nature and alteration of the host rocks associated with them to assist in evaluating the potential of the mineralised system.
The western Cisoka Vein intersections show that the vein zone feathers to the south along strike into a zone containing narrow veins where the host shear zone has intersected intrusive crackle and local well rounded milled breccias rather than the more desirable situation which was intersected in the eastern Cisampai vein where the vein is constrained within a shear in a competent essentially unfractured intrusive andesite unit that forms part of the host volcanic dome complex.
The Cisampai Vein returned the most promising results in terms of grade and offers scope for additional mineralised vein extension along strike from areas of known mineralisation. The intersections in the Cisoka Vein suggest that potential is limited to areas already defined by artisanal miners.
?Further drilling is needed to evaluate this project, before final conclusions as to the project potential can be drawn.? Paramount?s Chairman, Mo Munshi, commented.
The Gunung Julang gold-silver system comprises an en echelon array of five, subparallel, steeply dipping, north-south to north-northwest trending mineralised structures hosting multiple phases of quartz ?carbonate vein-, vein breccia- and hydrothermal breccia-fill. (kanti)
