Parker Drilling local unit signs new contract

U.S.-based Parker Drilling Company announced that its Indonesian subsidiary called PT DATI has signed a new two-well contract with a one-well option with Irian Jaya gas and oil for land rig 206.
The company said in a statement that the rig will mobilize early this month with an expected spud date in the latter half of August.
?We are seeing increasing activity in the international markets, and expect more new contract announcement this year,? said Robert L. Parker, president and CEO.
The company has also signed new contract in Nigeria and contract reactivation in Papua New Guinea.(*)
