Parliament members rumored to try to amend oil, gas and electricity laws

Some fourteen members of The House of Representatives are in deep discussion to file petition to amend oil and gas law and the newly passed electricity law, a Petromindo.Com source said.

"Right now, fourteen members had already agree to file proposal to amend the law, and the number may be increase," said the souce late Monday.

The source said among those who are trying to amend the laws is Permadi from the ruling party PDI-Perjuangan.

According to parliamentary regulation, at least ten members of parliament could file petition to amend the law.

The source did not say specifically the articles they are proposing to amend.

The House passed oil and gas law which liberalize downstream oil and gas sector and dismantling Pertamina's monoply was passed last year, while electricty law which also aims to liberalize electricity sector was pass just last week. (alex)
