Energy trading firm PT Parna Raya emerged as sole bidder to supply natural gas to Indonesia Power?s Grati combined cycle power plant in East Java.

An official from state electricity firm PLN said Parna offered to supply 40MMCFD of gas to Grati from Husky Energy-operated Madura BD gas field offshore East Java.

Parna and Husky had signed 20-year supply deal starting 2011. Parna will pay Husky US$4.20 per MMBTU.

Indonesia Power is a subsidiary of PLN.

The official said the August 2009 tender was held after the first tender failed, and according to PLN?s regulation, PLN can directly appoint Parna as winner. The official did not disclose the price Parna offer for its gas.

Earlier Indonesia Power?s President Director Tonny Agus Mulyantono told Petromindo.Com that the company is looking for 100MMCFD to switch expensive fuel oil usage to natural gas. (bernard)
