Partial blackout hits Java ? Bali

Simultaneous partial blackout in Java and Bali has been unavoidable since Wednesday because the deficit of power supply reached 702 MW.

General Manager of state electricity firm PT PLN in charge of Java ? Bali Transmission and Load Regulation Center Muljo Adjie said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the partial blackout would be applied equitably from Banten, Jakarta to Bali.

?The electricity supply in the Java - Bali system faces a deficit of up to five percent of the installed capacity because supply of coal and fuel to power plants in Java has not recovered,? he said.

Coal stocks at the 2 x300 MW Cilacap, 800 MW Paiton and 2 x 660 MW Tanjung Jati B power plants have dramatically fallen because high tidal waves had hampered vessels to carry coal from coal-producing regions in Kalimantan to Java.

PLN called on electricity subscribers, mainly residential subscribers to save the consumption of electricity, he added (godang)
