Some 14 members of the Pasir regency legislative council in East Kalimantan went to Jakarta last week to seek data on local coal deposit, the local Kaltim Post daily reported Monday.

The paper said that the legislators needed the data as an input for the council to decide whether to approve the plans to develop coal railway connecting the Pasir regency and Tabalong regency in South Kalimantan.

The lawmakers met with officials of the directorate general of coal of the ministry of energy and mineral resources, but unfortunately they could not obtain the specific data.

Instead, the office gave general data on provincial coal resources.(*)
