Pasir Regent inaugurates BHP-KCI community program

Pasir Regent Yusrianstah Syarkawi officially inaugurated on Friday the Rp 350 billion (US$1=Rp 8,800) clean water project facility of East Kalimantan coal mining operation PT BHP-Kendilo Coal Indonesia (BHP-KCI) dedicated for the local Petangis villagers, the Kaltim Post daily reported.
After the official ceremony, the Regent and other local government officials visited the coal mining company's ex-mining site and were impressed by the ability of the company to transform the site into a beautiful the fish pond area.
BHP-KCI is to end its mining contract in 2002. (*)
