Paxocean, which operates shipyards in Batam, announced Wednesday the early delivery of 3,500 LT DWT product oil tanker to PT PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

The vessel was named ?Transko Arafura? earlier in the year and will be chartered by Pertamina Shipping for work in Indonesia. The vessel was launched into the water at the PaxOcean Tanjung Uncang shipyard in Batam on June 21. Transko Arafura is a 3,500 long ton product oil tanker of 90m length, capable of carrying up to 3 different grades of product oil in one cargo shipment. With a double bottom structure, the tanker is constructed with ten cargo tanks and two slop tanks. The vessel is equipped with Yanmar main engine and generators, Scanjet tank cleaning equipment, cargo pumps from Wartsila and deck machinery from MacGregor. Construction of ?Transko Arafura? started on May 22, 2015 on the first cut of steel.

PaxOcean Batam is made up of the group?s Graha, Nanindah and Pertama yards. With a combined land area of 1,313,000sqm, 4,855m of berth and 3 floating docks, the proximity of the three shipyards offer unparalleled synergies in resources, expertise and project management.

Pertamina Trans Kontinental on August 31 also signed a contract for 2 units of 3,200 DWT ASD Tugs with PaxOcean. The vessels of hull number 8012 and 8013 will be built in PaxOcean Batam and are expected to be delivered at the end of the third quarter 2017, according to a recent PaxOcean press statement.
