Coal mining company PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara (PCN) said it has delivered 15 barges of coal so far this year to PT PLN Batubara, a subsidiary of state-owned electricity company PT PLN, to fuel several power plants.

PCN Marketing Director Andi Ananda Manggabarani, told Petromindo.com that the coals were taken from PCN?s concession in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan.

?From January 2015, we have delivered more than 100,000 tons (of coal) or almost 15 barges, for several power plants outside Java island,? he said.

The coal-fired power plants include PLTU Kupang, in East Nusa Tenggara Province, PLTU Amurang, North Sulawesi Province, PLTU Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, and PLTU Nagan Raya, Aceh Province, he explained.

Andi added that coal from South Kalimantan is mostly suitable to be consumed by power plants located outside Java Island.

He said that so far PT PLN Batubara regularly makes coal order of around four barges per month from PCN for supplying several power plants. ?So far there?s no additional demand from PLN Batubara for coal,? he said, adding that supply would be increased once several power plants project which are currently under construction are completed.
