PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has acquired two rigs to be deployed at the Tomori field in Central Sulawesi owned by JOB PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tomori-PT Medco E&P Tomori.

The rigs are expected to begin spud-in at the Tomori field in August of this year.

?We specifically purchased two new rigs to fulfill the needs for spud in at the Tomori field,? PDSI President Director Faried Rudiono told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

?The first rig is being shipped out of the US. The second rig will also arrive from the US next month,? he added.

Elsewhere, Faried said that PDSI is currently trying to win drilling contracts from Virginia Indonesia Oil Company, and PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi (PGE), the latter of which owns the Lahendong geothermal field.

He added that the markets of PDSI?s rigs are in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. He considered the Papua region as less attractive.
