PT Pertamina Drilling Service Indonesia (PT PDSI), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, has acquired two additional electric rigs, each having capacity of 1,000 and 1,500 horse power.
"PT PDSI bought the two rigs in Houston, USA, at a price of US$19 million. Both rigs are of electric ambient type and they are expected to arrive early this year," said Ali Mundakir, the corporate secretary of PT PDSI, in Jakarta on Monday.
The 1,500 horsepower rig will be used for drilling in Donggi-Senoro, Central Sulawesi, while the 1,000 horsepower one for drilling on the project in Cirebon that is owned by PT Pertamina EP.
The two rigs are the third and fourth ones bought by PT PDSI so far. Previously, in January 2011, it had bought the first two rigs. They were used for drilling in PT Pertamina EP's projects in West Java, and Central Sulawesi.
Currently, PT PDSI has 35 rigs for onshore drillings and workover of various capacities between 250 HP and 2,000 HP.
