PT Pertamina Drilling Service Indonesia (PDSI), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, plans to acquire three rigs next year worth a combined total of US$78 million. Parent company will provide the necessary funding.
?PDSI currently has 40 rigs. Next year, we?ll have 42-43 rigs,? PDSI President Director Faried Rudiono told Petromindo.com Wednesday.
He said that the rigs will be used primarily to cater to the rising demand for drilling services from Pertamina and its subsidiaries including PT Pertamina EP, PHE and PGE.
Faried said that PDSI was supposed to buy a total of 10 additional rigs, but limited funds have forced the company to only buy three rigs first from the US. Amid limited supply of rigs the company plans to seek partners in fulfilling rising demand for drilling services, he said.
