PT Pertamina Drilling Service Indonesia (PDSI), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, is in the process of completing the construction of a rig facility to be deployed in Banyu Urip field in Cepu block.
?We?ll start drilling in the fourth quarter of this year,? Asep Sulaiman, Senior Vice President at ExxonMobil, told Petromindo.com Friday. The American energy giant controls Mobil Cepu Limited (MCL), the operator of the Cepu block in Central and East Java.
He explained that ExxonMobil did not directly make the order for the rig facility, being constructed in Batam. The order came from the drilling contractor (lead by PDSI) based on the specifications requested by MCL.
Vice President for Communications at Pertamina, Ali Mundakir, declined to comment for now due to confidentiality agreement. He said that the company will provide statement at the proper time.
