Pelindo, Chinese giant sign MoU to develop LNG terminal in Papua

PT Pelindo Energi Logistik, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelindo III, signed on Friday a MoU with China?s manufacturing and infrastructure giant China Communication Construction Company Ltd to jointly develop an LNG terminal in Papua.
Pelindo Energi President Director Gembong Primadjaja said that the MoU follows recent visit by President Joko Widodo to China where he invited Chinese firms to participate in the development of infrastructure facilities in Indonesia.
He said that the planned LNG terminal will require total investment of about Rp 1.2 trillion.
He was quoted by kompas.com as saying that the LNG terminal will help provide the supply of electricity in Papua, who will host the National Sport Event in 2020. No further details were provided.(*)
