Pelindo II to start Pulau Baai coal port expansion end September

State-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II) plans to start construction work at its Pulau Baai coal port expansion project in Bengkulu Province at the end of this year.

?Groundbreaking will be held at the end of September,? said Saptono R. Irianto, Director of Business Development of Pelindo II recently.

The project is aimed at doubling the coal handling capacity of the Pulau Baai Port to 10 million tons per year by adding a new jetty.

The construction of a new coal jetty forms part of the overall expansion of the Pulau Baai Port which will also be equipped with a 2x100 MW coal-fired power plant.
