Pelindo III to build gas-fired power plant

State-owned port operator PT Pelindo III plans to build a 2x25 MW gas-fired power plant at its Teluk Lamong port terminal in Surabaya, East Java, Kontan daily reported Thursday.

Public Relations Head of Pelindo III, Edi Priyanto said that its partner PT Rekayasa Industri is currently still in the process of making the necessary feasibility study for the project. He said that construction of the more than Rp 1 trillion worth plant is expected to start next year, hoping that the plant can start operation in 2016.

He said that the electricity will be used to support the operation of the Teluk Lamong port terminal, and the automated container transport facility, which links Teluk Lamong and the main Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya. (*)
