Pelindo III to expand capacity of gas engine power plant

PT Lamong Energi Indonesia (LEGI), an indirect subsidiary of state-owned port management company PT Pelindo III, plans to expand the capacity of its 6.6 MW gas engine power plant (PLTMG) at the Teluk Lamong container terminal in East Java Province to 20 MW, kontan.co.id reported on Wednesday.

The news portal quoted Pelindo III President Director IGN Askhara Danadiputra as saying that the expansion was necessary to support future operation of the company?s Teluk Lamong terminal. No further details were provided.

The 6.6 MW Teluk Lamong PLTMG started operation in August of 2017 to provide electricity for the operation of the Teluk Lamong container terminal, operated by Pelindo subsidiary PT Terminal Teluk Lamong. The PLTMG has two engines each with capacity of 3.3 MW.

LEGI cooperates with PT Widar, a subsidiary of state-controlled gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk in the supply of the required gas for the power plant. (*)
