Pelindo IV signs agreement to operate Kalimantan coal terminals

State-owned port operator PT Pelindo IV has signed agreements with coal mining firms PT Sinar Kumala Naga and PT Interex Sacra Raya for cooperation in the operation of coal terminals owned by the two firms, local reports said.
The five-year agreements were signed last week by Pelindo IV President Director Doso Agung, and Alexander (one name), Director of both Sinar Kumala and Interex.
Alexander was quoted as saying that his companies had been ?facing obstacles? in operating its coal terminal at the Balipapan port and coal terminal in Paser Regency, both in East Kalimantan Province. As such, the companies decided to cooperate with Pelindo IV, which is considered to have extensive experience in operating ports.
Under the agreements, Sinar Kumala and Interex are required to make sure that the terminals and supporting facilities such as jetty, trestle, breasting dolphin, mooring dolphin, conveyor belt, and draw down hopper are ready for operation.
Meanwhile, the obligations of Pelindo IV is to make required investment, deal with the required permits and licenses, and operate the terminals. (*)
