Penajam regency to examine 30 KP holders

The Penajam Paser Utara regency administration in East Kalimantan plans to examine 30 mining authorization (KP) holders operating in the regency to ensure that they have not conducted illegal things, Kaltim Post reported on Tuesday.

Among the companies are PT Dua-Dua Kutai Utama operating in Riko, Sepaku with a concession area of 9,938 hectares, PT Shaw Brothers Abadi in Suko Mulyo, Argomulyo, Wonosari (1,500 ha) and PT Penajam Prima Coal in Pantai Lango, Sepan, Gersik, Riko, Sotek, Buluminung (6,115 ha).

According to the regency's data, there are officially 30 KP holders in the regency but there are likely some other companies operating illegally using invalid permits issued by the previous regency administration, the newspaper quoted Heni Susanto, acting head of the Economic Section in the Regency Secretariat, as saying.

Regent H Andi Harahap previously stated he would discipline mining concessions, including the illegal ones.

?All mining concession would be examined to ascertain they have executed site activities and fulfilled obligations to the regency government," said Heni(*)
