PT Pertamina EP (PEP), an upstream subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), announced on Tuesday that oil production from its Pendopo field in South Sumatra is well above target.

The field has roduced 2,118 barrels of oil per day (bopd), 50.8 percent higher than the target of 1,470 bopd. Meanwhile, its gas production now stands at 231.88 mmscfd.

Several main structures have contributed to the significant increase in the oil output, including the Jirak structure which contributed 610 bopd or 29 percent of the total output, up from around 175-200 bopd.

The firm managed to increase output from several structures at the field thanks to the application of several methods, including acid fracturing treatment method at SPA 37 well in Sopa structure; well reactivation method at JRK 147 and JRK 78 wells in Jirak structure through stimulation and submersion method using solvent paraffin along with EOR weaterflood pilot project, according to PEP?s spokesman Agus Amperianto.

Besides, the firm also applied ?tank on site? method at low pressure wells, he said.

To celebrate the achievement, the firm held a party on Friday with people living in Rejosari village, Sungai Keruh district, Musibanyuasin regency, where the field is located.
