Some 30 people of the Kabo area in Sangatta, East Kalimantan province, has occupied a garage facility and a rescue unit office of coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), the Kaltim Post daily reported on Tuesday.
The people said that the two facilities were built in a 57-ha land acquired by KPC from the people, but the company had not yet paid compensation.
The people demanded the company to pay first the compensation or remove their facilities from the land.
The Tenggarong Court has recently issued a ruling ordering KPC to pay the compensation. But Kaltim Post said that KPC had not yet received the ruling. The company has yet to decide whether to accept the ruling or to make an appeal. (*)
