PEP commissions Gundih gas field

PT Pertamina EP (PEP), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), said on Tuesday it has commissioned the Gundih block in Cepu, Central Java, flaring gas from one well in the process.

?The commissioning started on March 1. We tried to flare gas on one well,? PEP?s Exploration Director Doddy Priambodo told Petromindo.com.

He said gas production at the block is expected to be at full capacity at the end of this month, supplying 55 mmscfd of gas to PLTG Tambak Lorok gas turbine power plant owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) in Semarang, the capital of the province.

Separately, PLN?s Gas and Oil Fuel Division Head Suryadi Mardjoeki said he was pleased by the news on the commissioning, adding PLN expected that PEP may deliver the Gundih gas at the end of this month.

?They (PEP) has promised to deliver the gas by the end of March,? he said.

PEP initially planned to deliver the gas in January this year, but delayed the delivery due to technical problems.
