PEP completes first phase EOR program at Pangkalan Susu field

PT Pertamina EP (PEP), an upstream subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has completed the first phase of its enhanced oil recovery (EOR) program via water-flooding technique at the Pangkalan Susu field, specifically the Gebang structure, in North Sumatra Province.

The company said in a statement issued Wednesday that the EOR program under the plan of further development (POFD) phase one was completed in February, increasing production rate at the Gebang structure to 210 bpd from 111 bpd before the start of the phase 1 water-flooding technique in October of last year.

PEP said that the EOR program was implemented to help arrest natural production decline rate at the Pangkalan Susu field of about 25 percent per year. The first phase EOR program covered 11 wells comprising of six water injection wells, and five production wells.

PEP Acting President Director Nanang Abdul Manaf said in the statement that the Gebang structure is projected to reach production peak of 450 bpd in 2018.

?For 2017, production at the Gebang structure is targeted to be maintained at around 205 bpd,? he said.
